Simon J. Hotz

Attorney at Law
Simon J. Hotz

Simon Hotz joined the firm as an associate in 2009. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame (1999) with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Simon attended DePaul University (2003), where he obtained his Master of Education degree. He received his Juris Doctor from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law (2009).

Teaching middle school language arts piqued his interest in the complexity of family dynamics, as he interacted daily with students of varying family dynamics, including those with married, divorced, and never-married parents. Prior to attending law school, Simon worked as a project assistant at a prominent civil litigation firm, where he gained invaluable experience assisting in the discovery process of numerous class action and complex business litigation lawsuits.

Simon began his career at Kamerlink, Stark, Powers & McNicholas, LLC, as a law clerk during his second year of law school, and became an associate upon becoming licensed to practice law in 2009. Drawing upon his work experiences and the wealth of knowledge shared by his colleagues at KSPM, Simon’s application of the law to real-life scenarios is fueled by his desire to gain favorable outcomes for the firm’s clients, whether through out-of-court settlement negotiation or in-court litigation.

Simon possesses extensive experience in pre- and post-decree dissolution of marriage and parentage matters, having represented a wide array of clients in the process. Simon prides himself on an ability to step away from the emotionality often associated with family law issues to effectively promote the best interest of the client.

Simon is a current member of the Illinois State Bar Association.
